Our American Family

We’re heading back to where it all began! Our American Family:The Youngs will be rebroadcast across the state of Mississippi on Thursday, April 25 at 8:30PM. We invite all of our Mississippi friends to tune in to Mississippi Public Broadcasting for a look back at our heritage and upon whose shoulders we stand.

Our American Family – The Youngs has now been picked up for broadcast in New York City and Los Angeles – the #1 and #2 public television markets in the nation. To date, our debut episode has been scheduled for broadcast 160 times, with cumulative national carriage of 36% thus far.

The second family story is currently in production – stay tuned for a formal announcement as we introduce you to this family. We deeply appreciate your support, as Our American Family has grown completely from the grass roots – just as it should be doing. Thank you for preserving your family stories from a simpler time while you still can.

As we move into 2013, Our American Family – The Youngs has had quite the ride. Since our public television syndication debut this past October, the show has been shown 146 times throughout the country, garnering 25% carriage (coverage)! And new pick-ups continue to happen … stay tuned for a big pick-up announcement in the coming weeks!

Thank you to all of you who have enjoyed the program and helped us get the word out. We look forward to bringing you more Our American Family stories later this year.

Since becoming available for broadcast on October 6, 2012, Our American Family – The Youngs has been picked up by 22 public television markets, including six statewide systems! We just learned today of Amarillo, TX adding two broadcast dates. Thank you for the part each of you are playing in reaching out to your local station and asking them to consider the show.

This is the photo that started it all.  As a boy, I used to look at this picture, sitting next to a ticking mantel clock in my grandparents’ home, and wonder what life was like back then.  Now, 40 years later, we begin the journey of celebrating all American families by first sharing their story.  Do you have one of those family photos that takes you back in time?  Post it on our facebook page and let us know what it means to you.
